Malabo, Equatorial Guinea – Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as Tunisia edged Equatorial Guinea 1-0 at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo on Monday, sealing their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Carthage Eagles left it late, but Romdhane’s composed finish in the 90+4th minute, was enough to separate the sides in a tightly contested Group H clash.
The victory means Tunisia has now officially booked its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
This marks the seventh World Cup appearance for Tunisia and their third consecutive qualification following their participation in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
With this result, Tunisia remains unbeaten and tops Group H with 22 points, sitting a comfortable 10 points ahead of second-placed Namibia, with qualification now mathematically secured.
The Carthage Eagles’ consistency in African football continues to show, and their latest qualification underlines their status as one of the continent’s most reliable performers on the global stage.
