SSFF Tightens Transfer Regulations With New Rules for Foreign Players Ahead of 2026/27 Season

  JUBA, South Sudan – The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has approved a series of new transfer regulations aimed at tightening control over player registration, with a special focus on foreign player clearance ahead of the 2026/27 season. The decision was taken during an emergency Executive Committee meeting held on Saturday, May 30, at the federation headquarters in Juba, chaired by President Francis Amin Michael , alongside First Vice President Makur Majok and nine committee members. South Sudan former interim head coach Cyprian Ashu believes the Bright Stars can challenge for qualification in Group B of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 qualifiers despite being drawn against Egypt, Angola and Malawi. Ashu, who was appointed as interim coach on March 12, 2026, in his second spell with the Bright Stars, successfully guided South Sudan past Djibouti in the preliminary round to secure a place in the group stages. The snakes collected only 8️⃣ points from their 1st nine games of the season and currently occupies 9️⃣th position 3️⃣ points above the relegation zone. The reigning Champions started their title defense under Coach Mayor who was sacked after only 3 matches in charge, that have seen them drawing in 2 matches and beating Al-Hilal FC by forfeit. After the sacking of Mayor, the snakes suffered a humiliating 4️⃣-0️⃣ defeat to Kator FC but managed to bounce with back to back wins against Rainbow Juba Sports Club in Payam derby and Merriekh Juba under caretaker coach Juma Ambrose. Nujoum Jamaric, who finished fourth in the Second Division League behind champions Al Huriya, second-placed Talaga, and third-placed Bajur, wasted no time in asserting themselves.   Juba, South Sudan: 27th September, 2024:  Atlabara FC defeated ZAL ZAL FC 3:1 in the  third week, of the Juba Local Football Association 1st Division League, at the Bulluk Playground on Friday .  Keer Mangar, scored the first goal in the game in Favor of Atlabara after only seven minutes from the start of the game , Mangar again added the second goal for Bara boys  in the 19th minutes  of the game, before Achuil, reduces the scoring gap Seven minutes to the end of the first half.  9th June 2025 El Merriekh Bentiu have sent official proposal to Atlabara FC to sign striker Kiir Mangar, top scorer of the 2024/25 Konyokonyo League — understand the player wants the move.  Atlabara have received the letter — club board will meet to decide. Talks expected soon. 15th May 2024 1. 🏆 Malakia SC deservedly won the Juba Local Football Association 1st Division League, with 56 points.  The Royal Club scored the highest number of goals in a match 8 goals against Amarat in the 1st leg, and 49 goals in the season. They also finished as the best defence conceding only 12 goals in 24 matches.  2. Rainbow SC remarkable title charge came to an end in the last 5 matches. History and pride were on full display at Bulluk Playground in Juba as Atlabara FC were handed the JLFA 1st Division League trophy, bringing the curtain down on an outstanding 2024/2025 season.  1st/10/2025 In April 2024, Coach Charles Ceasar was named Best Coach in the Konyokonyo League by the Juba Local Football Association — a well-deserved honor after guiding Viva Star FC to a historic 3rd place finish with 43 points and 14 clean sheets in 24 matches, the second-best defensive record in the league. After that success, Ceasar’s journey took unexpected turns. He left Viva Star, joined Lologo FC in the Juba FA Second Division — but was later sacked. Shortly after, he joined Atlabara FC as a fitness coach, where his impact was felt immediately.  JUBA LOCAL LEAGUE | WEEK 23 12th April 2025 Amarat United suffered their 8th defeat of the 2024/2025 Juba Local League—also known as the Konyokonyo League—after going down 2-1 to league leaders Atlabara FC at Bulluk Playground on Saturday, 12th April 2025. The setback temporarily places the 2019 South Sudan Cup champions in 4th position with 33 points, just one point ahead of 5th-placed Viva Stars, who still have a game in hand. Despite the defeat, Amarat United have shown clear progress this season: Wins: 10 (Already two more than last season's 8) Goals Scored: 38 (10 more than their 2023/24 total of 28 in 24 games) Goals Conceded: 33 (Same as last season in fewer games – 21 played so far) Their attack has been a standout this campaign and is largely responsible for lifting them from 8th place last season to 4th with three games left to play. CAF confirms dates for historic AFCON PAMOJA 2027 in East Africa

  The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially announced the kick-off and final dates for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The tournament will open on Saturday, 19 June 2027, while the final is scheduled for Saturday, 17 July 2027. The dates were approved by the FIFA Council during its recent meeting in Vancouver, Canada. CAF is expected to confirm the host nations for the opening match and final in due course.
