CECAFA Signs Landmark KSh 41 Million Deal with Betika for 2025/2026 Kagame Cup

Nairobi, Kenya – The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has signed a landmark sponsorship deal worth KSh 41 million with leading betting company Betika, officially making them the sponsor of the 2025/2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

The agreement was formalized during a ceremony held at Pacific Suites in Nairobi on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Betika Managing Director, Mutua Mutava, described the partnership as a significant milestone:

“Today we announce a landmark sponsorship of 41 million Kenya shillings for the CECAFA Kagame Cup, cementing Betika’s place as the official sponsor of this prestigious tournament. This is not just a partnership—it’s a statement of belief in the power of football to unite, inspire, and transform communities.”

In an official statement released via CECAFA's Facebook page, CECAFA Vice President Paulos Weldehaimanot praised the new deal:

“With Betika joining as an official sponsor, we are taking this great tournament into a new era. This partnership reflects the power of collaboration between football and the private sector, and demonstrates the confidence a leading brand like Betika has in the value and potential of CECAFA competitions.”

As part of the agreement, Betika will receive premium brand visibility, including in-stadium branding and digital activation campaigns across all CECAFA platforms during the tournament. Kagame Cup 2025/2026 – Tournament Overview:

  • Dates: September 2–15, 2025

  • Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

  • Participating Teams: 12 top clubs from the CECAFA region

  • South Sudan Representative: Kator FC


Kator FC Set to Represent South Sudan

South Sudan’s representatives, Kator FC, are preparing to travel to Tanzania ahead of the tournament.
Speaking to Sports Hunter South Sudan, Kator FC Secretary General, Robert Ohiya, confirmed that the team is expected to depart on Friday, August 29, traveling by land through Kampala and Nairobi before reaching Dar es Salaam.

The club, also known as “The Lobera”, will be aiming to make a strong impression on their regional counterparts as they carry the hopes of the nation in one of East Africa’s most prestigious club tournaments.
