CHAN 2024: Morocco Crowned Champions After Epic Final Thriller!

The Atlas Lions have roared again! Morocco claimed the CHAN 2024 title after edging out a spirited Madagascar side 3-2 in a thrilling final on Saturday.

The game kicked off with Morocco dictating the tempo early on, but it was the Barea who struck first.

Against the run of play, Clavin Félicité Manohantsoa fired Madagascar ahead in the 9th minute, sending shockwaves through the Mandela Stadium.

The response from the reigning giants was swift. Youssef Mehri brought the Atlas Lions level in the 27th minute with a composed finish. Just before halftime, Morocco turned the game on its head — Oussama Lamlioui finding the back of the net in the 44th minute to make it 2-1.

But Madagascar refused to go quietly. The underdogs rallied and found their equalizer midway through the second half, with Toky Niaina Rakotondraibe striking in the 68th minute to reignite the contest.

Morocco, however, showed why they remain a powerhouse in African football. Lamlioui, the man of the moment, stepped up once again — bagging his second of the night in the 80th minute to seal a dramatic victory.

From there, the Atlas Lions held firm, weathering late Malagasy pressure to clinch yet another CHAN crown — a title that reaffirms their dominance on the continental stage.

Full-time: Morocco 3-2 Madagascar. The Lions of the Atlas are champions once more.
