Mali Celebrates USFAS Ladies & U17 Eagles After Continental Triumphs

Mali’s football family came together on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium to celebrate two national success stories — the USFAS Ladies, champions of the UFOA-A Tournament and qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, and the U17 Eagles, winners of the Indonesian Independence Tournament.

The festive ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Youth and Sports in charge of Civic Instruction and Civil Construction, Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba, in the company of several government dignitaries and senior officials of the Fédération Malienne de Football (FEMAFOOT), led by First Vice-President Moussa Silvain Diakité.

Also in attendance were the Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, Madam Doumbia Mariam Tangara, the Minister of Women, Child and Family Promotion, Madam Diarra Djeneba Sanogo, and former Sports Minister Adam Koné.

The President of USFAS, Colonel Sega Sissoko, and Abdoulaye Konaté, Federal Delegate of the U17 in Indonesia, expressed appreciation to FEMAFOOT and the Malian authorities for their constant support before handing over the hard-won trophies to Minister Fomba.

Speaking on behalf of FEMAFOOT President Mamoutou Touré “Bavieux”, Vice-President Diakité hailed the transitional government’s commitment to sports and encouraged the young champions to continue raising Mali’s flag high.

In his closing remarks, Minister Fomba lauded the bravery and determination of the teams, emphasizing that the strong partnership between FEMAFOOT and his ministry is key to the recent successes of Malian football.
