Al Hilal SC Omdurman Begin Preparations in Juba Ahead of CAF Champions League Clash



Sports Hunter South Sudan | By: Emmanuel Patrick Laku | Juba, South Sudan – Al Hilal SC Omdurman held their first training session at Juba National Stadium on Wednesday evening, just hours after arriving in South Sudan, as preparations begin for their CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture against Jamus SC.

The Sudanese giants touched down in Juba earlier in the day and wasted no time getting onto the pitch, with head coach and technical staff putting the squad through light drills and tactical work to acclimate to local conditions.

Al Hilal, one of Sudan’s most decorated clubs, will face South Sudanese champions Jamus SC in what promises to be a historic encounter for both sides. 

The match marks a significant moment for football in the region, with Juba hosting a CAF Champions League fixture of this magnitude.

The visitors are aiming to advance past the preliminary stage and continue their campaign for continental silverware, while Jamus SC will look to make a statement on home soil.

Kickoff is scheduled for later this week at the Juba National Stadium.

Bright Stars Begin Preparations for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

By: Emmanuel Patrick Laku - Juba, South Sudan – El Merriekh SC Bentiu will make their first-ever appearance in the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025, scheduled for September 2–15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the draw set for August 26th. The South Sudan Premier League club was nominated by the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) after Kator FC turned down an invitation to participate in the tournament.  This development followed CAF’s decision to reject Kator from representing the country in the CAF Confederation Cup. El Merriekh’s involvement in the Kagame Cup is seen as a crucial preparation for their upcoming campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will represent South Sudan at continental level.  The tournament will give the Bentiu-based side exposure to regional competition and help them build the experience needed for the challenges ahead.
