Black Stars Set to Depart for Chad Ahead of Crucial World Cup Qualifier

Sports Hunter South Sudan - Accra, Ghana — The Black Stars of Ghana will depart Accra for N'Djamena today, Tuesday, September 2, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.

Head Coach Otto Addo is expected to travel with all 24 invited players, as the team looks to strengthen its grip on Group I of the African qualifiers. Ghana has been preparing in Accra, with 12 players taking part in Monday's session at the Accra Sports Stadium. The remaining squad members are expected to join the traveling party today.

The Black Stars currently top Group I with 15 points, having recorded five wins and one loss in six matches. A win against Chad would solidify their lead and keep them on course for a fifth FIFA World Cup appearance.

The match will take place at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N'Djamena on Thursday, September 4, with kickoff set for 1:00 PM local time. The team will hold their final training session in N'Djamena on Wednesday.

Ghana will conclude their group-stage qualifiers in October with matches against Central African Republic and Comoros, as they push to secure one of Africa’s coveted spots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
