Sports Hunter South Sudan | September 25, 2025
Zambian FIFA Assistant Referee Diana Chikotesha continues to raise the bar on the global stage, following her latest high-profile appointment to officiate in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions League, set to take place at the Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium in China.
Chikotesha joins a distinguished team of seven match officials from Africa selected for the historic tournament. The full African delegation includes:
-
Referee: Bouchra Karboubi (Morocco)
-
Assistant Referees: Carine Atezambong (Cameroon), Diana Chikotesha (Zambia)
-
VAR Officials: Shamirah Nabadda (Uganda), Hamza El Fariq (Morocco), Fathia Jermoumi (Morocco)
The officiating team will oversee the high-stakes clash between Asian champions Wuhan Jiangda WFC and Auckland United FC, the 2025 winners of the OFC Women’s Champions League.
The winner of this opening match will progress to Round Two, where they will travel to Africa to face the CAF Women’s Champions League champions. The victor from that encounter will move on to the final phase, which will be played at a centralised venue, as part of FIFA’s bold new effort to unify global women’s club football under a single competitive banner.
The FIFA Women’s Champions League is a brand-new initiative featuring six continental champions from the previous club season, all competing to lift what promises to become one of the most prestigious trophies in women’s football.
Chikotesha, who is the current CAF Assistant Female Referee of the Year, has become a permanent fixture at COSAFA, CAF, and FIFA tournaments, and this latest appointment further cements her status as one of Africa’s leading female match officials.
