Defending Champions Jamus FC Among Four Clubs Excluded from 2025 South Sudan Cup – Juba Edition

In a major development ahead of the 2025 South Sudan Cup – Juba Edition, defending champions Jamus SC, along with Kator FC, Malakia SC, and Atlabara FC, will not feature in this year’s tournament.
The competition, set to kick off on September 10, 2025, will proceed without these four top-tier clubs, who are now under the jurisdiction of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) following their promotion to the national Premier League.
When Sports Hunter South Sudan sought clarity on their absence in an exclusive interview, Juba Football Association (JFA) Secretary General George Sebit explained:
“Kator is now in the Premier League. This question should be directed to the South Sudan Football Federation. We are only working with clubs in the local league. It is the SSFF who will decide where Kator, Jamus, Malakia, and Atlabara will participate.”
The exclusion of Jamus SC, despite being the reigning champions, underscores a shifting landscape in South Sudanese football, with a growing administrative divide between national and local competitions.
Tournament to Begin with Lower Division Clubs
The 2025 Juba Edition of the South Sudan Cup will begin with third division clubs kicking off the action on September 10.
The tournament structure will follow a three-stage format:
Stage 1: Third Division teams compete in the opening round.
Stage 2: Second Division teams enter and clash with Stage 1 winners.
Stage 3: First Division clubs join the competition, facing off against winners from Stage 2.
While the absence of Premier League sides will reshape the competitive landscape, it also creates an opportunity for emerging clubs to shine and stake their claim in the local football scene
Fixtures Update
According to JFA officials, tournament fixtures are currently being printed and are expected to be released later today.
