Nairobi, Kenya – South Sudan’s champions Yei Joint Stars FC have seen their continental dreams dashed after falling 2-0 to Tanzania’s JKT Queens in a crucial Group C decider at the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers 2025, played on Thursday, 11th September, at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.

Second-half goals from Jamila Rajabu (60’) and Esther Maseke (68’) sealed the fate of the Super Queens, who needed a win to stand a chance of progressing to the semi-finals.

The result sees JKT Queens finish as Group C winners with 6 points, advancing to the knockout stage.

Yei Joint Stars, despite a spirited campaign, finish second with 3 points, while JKU SC of Zanzibar bow out bottom of the group without a point.

It marks the end of a promising campaign for Yei Joint Stars, who earned a hard fought comeback victory earlier in the group stage — a milestone for South Sudanese women's football.

Coach and players alike will now turn their focus back to domestic competition, but their showing in Nairobi has set a new benchmark for the women’s game in South Sudan.
