Malakia SC Juba kicked off their 2025/2026 South Sudan Premier League campaign in dramatic fashion with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Al Hilal FC at the Juba National Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, in one of the standout fixtures of Week One.

Al Hilal looked to be in full control during the first half, racing into an early lead in the 8th minute through Romadan Charles, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire the Blue Wave in front. Their pressure continued, and in the 36th minute, Malakia’s  Al Amin Sayd inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, doubling Al Hilal’s advantage and sending them into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

But the second half saw a remarkable shift in momentum. Malakia SC came out with renewed determination and quickly pulled one back through Faizoal in the 49th minute. The equalizer came in the 64th minute when Faizoal completed his brace  to bring the Royal Club level at 2-2.

With Al Hilal visibly shaken, Malakia pressed on and were rewarded in the 78th minute. Abraham Thou making it 3-2, sealing all three points for the Juba-based side.

Dominance Continues

This result marks Malakia SC’s third consecutive league victory over Al Hilal. Last season, Malakia defeated them 1-0 both home and away. Tuesday’s result only solidifies their recent dominance in this fixture.

Table Standing

With the win, Malakia SC Juba temporarily climb to 3rd place with 3 points, while Al Hilal sit in 12th, still without a point after Week One.

Last season, Malakia finished 6th with 40 points, while Al Hilal ended the campaign in 9th on 33 points. Based on this opening performance, Malakia appear determined to push higher up the table this term.
