JUBA – The President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), Francis Amin Michael, has thrown his weight behind the Bright Stars after their 4–1 defeat to DR Congo at the Juba National Stadium on Friday, 5 September 2025.

In a message posted on his official Facebook page just minutes after the final whistle, Amin reassured the national team of his continued support despite the loss — their fifth in the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers.

“It wasn’t an easy game for our Bright Stars. However, keep your heads up and focus on what’s next. We have the opportunity to play again. We shall always be there to support you all the time,” Amin wrote.

The defeat effectively ends coach Nicolas Dupuis’ hopes of securing either a direct qualification spot or a best runners-up place for the World Cup.

Friday’s game also marked the first international match at Juba National Stadium since Amin’s re-election as SSFF president last month.
