DAKAR, September 7, 2025 – Promising young defender Seyni Mbaye Ndiaye has been called up to the Senegal senior national team for the first time, ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa.

Ndiaye, who currently plays for Celta Fortuna, the reserve side of Spanish club Celta de Vigo, has impressed both domestically and internationally in recent months.

He was a key player in Senegal’s squad during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), where the Lions of Teranga secured a third-place finish.

"Seyni Mbaye Ndiaye joins the Den in backup ahead of the Lions' departure for Kinshasa. The defender will honour his first selection with the Senegal national team," the Senegal Football Federation confirmed.

The 20-year-old center-back rose through the ranks at US Gorée in Dakar and has quickly built a reputation as a disciplined, physically dominant defender with great composure and game awareness.

His inclusion comes as Senegal deals with defensive injuries to key players like Moussa Niakhaté and Abdou Diallo, offering Ndiaye a golden opportunity to make his mark on the international stage.
