Sudanese Diplomacy Resolves Referees' Detention Issue in Tanzania

By Sports Hunter – South Sudan

The Sudan Football Association (SFA) announced on Wednesday, via its official Facebook page, that the crisis involving two Sudanese international referees—Abdelaziz Jaafar (Al-Damazin) and Al-Moiz Ahmed Ali “Shatta”—has been successfully resolved.

The referees, who were officiating at the CECAFA tournament in Tanzania, had faced issues related to the withholding of their passports.

The matter was promptly addressed through joint efforts by the Sudanese Embassy in Tanzania, led by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Abdelhamid and Consul Asim Mustafa, in collaboration with SFA President Dr. Mutasim Jaafar Sir Al-Khatim and Captain Salah Ahmed Mohamed Saleh, Head of the Referees Committee.

Following the intervention, the referees retrieved their passports from the hotel management and expressed their gratitude to the embassy and football authorities for their quick and effective response.

This development once again highlights the crucial role of Sudan’s diplomatic missions in safeguarding the rights and well-being of Sudanese nationals abroad.
