Uganda Cruise Past Somalia in World Cup Qualifiers



Uganda secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Somalia in Group G of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers on Monday at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.

Allan Okello opened the scoring for the Cranes from the penalty spot in the 9th minute, before Jude Semugabi doubled the lead to seal Uganda's fifth win of the qualifiers.

This victory marks Uganda’s second triumph over Somalia in the group stage. The Cranes now have 5 wins and 3 losses, with no draws, in their qualification campaign.

Uganda currently sit second in Group G with 15 points, trailing group leaders Algeria, who top the table with 19 points.

Somalia, on the other hand, remain bottom of the group with 7 losses, 1 draw, and no wins.
