“We Have to Accept It” – Simba Coach Drichi Reflects on Costly Defeat to Viva Star

Sports Hunter South Sudan – Juba

Simba FC Head Coach Drichi Joseph expressed disappointment but remained composed after watching his side fall 2-1 to Viva Star FC in Week 2 of the 2025/26 Konyokonyo League at the Bulluk Playground in Juba on Wednesday— a result that marks their first defeat of the season and a third consecutive league loss to their rivals.

The Dababat of Simba now sit third on the league table with 3 points from two matches, having won their opening fixture but falling short in their toughest test yet.

“I don’t think there’s a coach who feels good after losing a game,” Drichi said post-match. “Our dream as coaches is always to win and to produce good results. Today it didn’t go our way, so definitely I can’t be happy. But of course, I have to accept it and take it.”

The decisive goal — a goalkeeper error that allowed Viva Star’s Mangisto “Mbappé” Ceasar’s cross to slip through — sparked questions about individual mistakes. Coach Drichi, however, chose a measured response.

“Football is full of mistakes,” he said. “These kinds of errors are part of the game. There’s no way to play football without mistakes. As coaches, our job is to minimize them — we can’t completely eliminate them. Today it just happened, and now we have to go back and work on it in training.”

Reflecting on the team’s overall performance and addressing the fans, Drichi was honest yet optimistic.

“I just want to say hard luck to the fans — this is not the result they were expecting, and honestly, not the one we planned for either,” he admitted. “But we have a dream and a target this season. The only way to move forward is to go back to work, get back on the dream path, and fix what went wrong.”

“I believe in the next game against Rainbow FC, the team will return stronger and in better shape to produce a good result.”
