AGUERO KOANG STRIKE HANDS SUPER STARS BOR FIRST-LEG ADVANTAGE OVER GUREI CITY

 



Juba, South Sudan — Super Stars FC Bor edged Gurei City Fc  1-0 in the first leg of the South Sudan Cup playoff, taking a crucial step toward qualification for the Round of 16.

The decisive encounter, played at Bulluk Playground on Saturday evening, was settled early when Aguero Koang found the back of the net in just the 8th minute. The forward capitalized on a well-timed assist from Anyieth Thiong to give the Bor-based side a deserved advantage.

Gurei City pushed for an equalizer but were unable to break down a disciplined Super Stars defense, leaving the visitors with a slender but important lead heading into the return leg.

The playoff stage features top-performing teams from the regional zones, including Super Stars (Zone C champions), Gurei City (Zone B champions), —YDS (Yirol) champions of Zone A — and , Al Merriekh (Aweil) who  qualified as the best loser.

With the format played on a home-and-away basis, the aggregate winners will secure a place in the Round of 16 of the 2025/2026 South Sudan Cup, where they will join the 14 clubs.

All eyes now turn to the second leg, where qualification — and the dream of a deep cup run — will be decided.
