 Bright Stars Lose 1-0 to Jamus SC in Juba Friendly Ahead of AFCON 2027 Qualifiers



Juba, South Sudan - 17th March 2026 - The South Sudan Senior Men’s National Football Team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Premier League side Jamus SC in a friendly at Juba National Stadium on Tuesday.

Jude Ssemugabi converted a penalty to secure the win for the Buffaloes


, with the Bright Stars unable to find a response despite periods of attacking pressure.

The friendly served as part of South Sudan’s preparations for the AFCON 2027 preliminary round double-header against Djibouti, scheduled for 26th and 29th March 2026, and also as a warm-up for Jamus SC, the Buffaloes, ahead of crucial league fixtures as they aim to defend their crown.

The Bright Stars were overseen on an interim basis by Cyprian Ashu, who was appointed to manage the team for the two upcoming qualifying matches, giving the squad tactical guidance and match readiness ahead of the competitive fixtures.
