Juba, South Sudan - 19th April, 2026 - Atlabara Cultural, Social and Sport Club have suspended head coach with immediate effect following a heavy 5-0 defeat to Lion Hunters FC in the Premier League.

The decision was taken during a Board of Directors meeting on April 19, called in response to the result and the circumstances surrounding the match. Atlabara’s approach drew attention after several regular starters were left on the bench, in what appeared to be a rotation strategy ahead of the South Sudan Cup semi-final against Alghazala.

That decision proved costly, as the team delivered one of their poorest performances of the season, prompting swift action from the club’s leadership.

In an official communiqué, Atlabara confirmed both the suspension and the launch of a formal investigation into the technical decisions linked to the match.

“The head coach is officially suspended from all coaching duties, effective immediately. A formal committee has been established to conduct a thorough investigation into recent technical matters, and will submit its report within one month,” the club said in a statement signed by Secretary Samuel Kabi Simon.

The statement also confirmed that club legend Khamis Martin will take charge of the first team on an interim basis as the club continues its Premier League campaign.

Further decisions regarding the technical bench will be made following the committee’s findings, with Atlabara emphasizing their commitment to professionalism during the process.
