All-Female Officiating Team Praised After Historic CECAFA U-17 Women's Championship


DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — CECAFA has hailed the contribution of the all-female officiating team that oversaw matches during the 2025 CECAFA U-17 Women's Championship, which concluded in Tanzania on Sunday.

In a message shared following the tournament, the regional football body thanked the match officials for their professionalism, dedication and leadership throughout the competition.

The championship marked a significant milestone for women's football in the region, with all matches officiated by female referees and assistant referees, highlighting the growing role of women in football administration and officiating.

CECAFA said the officials' performances both on and off the pitch demonstrated the continued progress of women's football and would inspire more young women to pursue careers in refereeing and sports leadership.

The tournament brought together some of East and Central Africa's emerging talents and further reinforced efforts to promote women's participation across all areas of the game.
