El Merriekh SC and Jamus SC Promote Inclusivity in Football Through Post-Match Fan Engagement

Juba, South Sudan — Beyond the rivalry and competition on the pitch, El Merriekh SC and Jamus SC have each showcased the importance of inclusivity in football through separate post-match interactions with fans living with disabilities at Juba National Stadium.

On different match days, players from both clubs took time after their respective games to pose for photos with supporters in wheelchairs, creating memorable moments that highlighted football's ability to bring people together.

The gestures underscored a growing commitment to ensuring that all supporters, regardless of physical ability, feel valued and connected to the game. Such moments serve as a reminder that football is not only about results and rivalries, but also about community, accessibility, and inclusion.

As South Sudanese football continues to grow, initiatives that celebrate and engage supporters from all backgrounds remain an important part of the sport's development.

The squad announcement was made public on Wednesday, August 20, through the official Facebook page of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF). The selected players are set to begin training next week in preparation for a critical double-header against DR Congo and Mauritania. Currently sitting fifth in Group B with just three points, the Bright Stars remain winless in their qualification campaign. South Sudan former interim head coach Cyprian Ashu believes the Bright Stars can challenge for qualification in Group B of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 qualifiers despite being drawn against Egypt, Angola and Malawi.
