El Merriekh SC Bentiu Sign Former South Sudan U-17 Winger Jonathan Gem

BENTIU, South Sudan — South Sudan Premier League and South Sudan Cup champions El Merriekh SC Bentiu have announced the signing of former South Sudan U-17 winger Jonathan Gem on a four-year contract.

The Bentiu-based side confirmed the acquisition through their official Facebook page on Thursday evening as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

"Another strong addition to our frontline. We are delighted to announce the signing of Jonathan Gem, a winger, on a four-year contract," the club said in a statement.

The Al Amal Football Academy graduate joins the reigning domestic champions following the expiration of his one-year contract with Atlabara FC.

Gem is regarded as one of the country's promising young wingers and is expected to add pace, creativity and attacking depth to El Merriekh's squad as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.

The signing underlines El Merriekh's ambition to build on a remarkable 2025/26 season in which they won the South Sudan Premier League title, South Sudan Cup and South Sudan Super Cup.
