Kenya Secure Bronze with Seven-Goal Rout of South Sudan



Kenya's Junior Starlets clinched the bronze medal at the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women's Championship after producing a dominant 7-0 victory over South Sudan in the third-place playoff at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Tusday afternoon.

Brenda Achieng starred for Kenya with a sensational five-goal performance, finding the net in the 6th, 60th, 63rd, 73rd and 85th minutes. 

Elizabeth Opiyo added Kenya's second goal shortly before halftime, while Faith Boke also got on the scoresheet as the Junior Starlets sealed an emphatic win.

The result saw Kenya finish third in the regional tournament, while South Sudan concluded a commendable campaign in fourth place after reaching the semi-finals for the first time. 

South Sudan had earlier suffered a 4-0 defeat to hosts Tanzania in the last four, while Kenya were beaten 3-0 by Uganda in the other semi-final.
