Magogo Hails Uganda U17 Teen Cranes After CECAFA Title Defence

 


FUFA President Moses Magogo has congratulated the Uganda U17 women’s national team, the Teen Cranes, after successfully defending their CECAFA title in 2026.

Uganda defeated hosts Tanzania to retain the crown, continuing their dominance in regional youth women’s football.

“Congratulations to our Uganda U17 Teen Cranes for beating Tanzania. You continue to make the nation proud,” Magogo said.

“The victory is a story of deliberate investment, partnerships and leadership since 2013. The credit does not belong to FUFA alone. This growth is a shared win for Government, FIFA, CAF, USSSA, clubs, schools and academies working in the same direction.”

The triumph further highlights Uganda’s steady progress in women’s football development at youth level, with structured investment and collaboration across key stakeholders.

South Sudan former interim head coach Cyprian Ashu believes the Bright Stars can challenge for qualification in Group B of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 qualifiers despite being drawn against Egypt, Angola and Malawi.
