South Sudan to Face Rwanda in Friendly Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

South Sudan’s national basketball team will take on Rwanda in an international friendly match as both sides intensify preparations for the third window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers.

The fixture, scheduled for June 28 at BK Arena in Kigali, comes as part of a series of warm-up games involving Rwanda, Uganda, and South Sudan ahead of the continental qualifiers set for July 2–5 in Luanda, Angola.

South Sudan, regarded as one of Africa’s fastest-rising basketball nations, has already arrived in Kigali to fine-tune preparations and is expected to use the encounter to assess squad readiness and tactical balance before the competitive action begins.

Rwanda will also use the friendly to sharpen their squad ahead of a tough qualifying group that includes Guinea, Tunisia, and Nigeria.

The match is expected to provide both teams with a high-level test, offering valuable competitive rhythm ahead of the demanding World Cup qualification campaign.
