South Sudan's Amarorwot Sharon Earns Place in CECAFA U-17 Group Stage Best XI
South Sudan U-17 Women's National Team captain Amarorwot Sharon has been named in the CECAFA U-17 Women's Championship Group Stage Best XI, capping a string of impressive performances for both the Junior Starlets and the senior national team.
The recognition comes as little surprise for the Munuki SC centre-back, who has rapidly established herself as one of South Sudan's most promising young defenders.
Sharon played a key role in South Sudan's group-stage campaign, leading the backline with authority and helping the Junior Starlets record two clean sheets. Her composure, tactical awareness, positioning, and ability to read the game made her one of the standout defenders at the tournament. The teenager's rise has been evident beyond youth football.
During South Sudan's 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifiers against Madagascar, Sharon was introduced in the first half of the first leg and helped bring stability to the defence. She followed that up with a commanding display in the return leg, where she was among South Sudan's best performers despite a heartbreaking stoppage-time defeat.
Blessed with pace, strong anticipation, and excellent interception skills, Sharon continues to demonstrate qualities well beyond her age, underlining her potential as a future mainstay for the Bright Starlets and the senior national team.
Her inclusion in the CECAFA Group Stage Best XI is a deserved reward for a player whose performances continue to attract attention across the region.
