Uganda Clinch CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship Title with Victory Over Hosts Tanzania
DAR ES SALAAM – Uganda were crowned champions of the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship after securing a commanding 3-0 victory over hosts Tanzania in the final played at the KMC Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Teen Cranes took the lead in the 38th minute through Justine Ayerango before Brenda Nasaka doubled the advantage four minutes later, giving Uganda a comfortable cushion heading into the halftime break.
Flavia Yagala added a third goal just two minutes after the restart to put the result beyond doubt and seal Uganda’s triumph in the regional tournament.
The victory capped an impressive campaign for Uganda, who finished the competition unbeaten, while Tanzania settled for the runners-up position despite enjoying home support throughout the championship.
