Uganda Overcome Zanzibar to Maintain Perfect Record at CECAFA U-17 Girls Championship


Uganda wrapped up the Group B title with a 3-0 victory over Zanzibar in the CECAFA U-17 Girls Championship at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Teen Cranes were made to wait for the breakthrough, but Shadia Nabirye struck in the 43rd minute to give Uganda a narrow lead heading into the halftime interval.

Uganda tightened their grip on the contest after the restart, with Immaculate Achen doubling the advantage in the 58th minute.

Justine Ayerango put the result beyond doubt in the closing stages, finding the net in the 90th minute to complete a convincing victory for the Ugandans.

The win sees Uganda finish top of Group B with a perfect record, while South Sudan progress to the next round as runners-up after an impressive group-stage campaign.
